Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These French Provincial bedside tables date from 1920 and come in a warm brown walnut timber with loose laid white marble tops. Each sturdy piece exhibits a rectangular profile standing on a plain plinth base, complete with a single upper drawer with a central wooden knob and a recessed oval moulding, an open central shelf supported by four turned columns with ring details, and a lower cupboard enclosed by a single panelled door with a small round wooden knob. Minor historic knocks, marks, wear, and imperfections show up across the timber surfaces in keeping with age and daily use. Measuring 45 cm wide, 45 cm deep, and 81 cm high, these tables fit easily beside a bed in a principal bedroom or guest suite, offering practical surface space for a lamp and reading material alongside concealed storage for personal items. The classic proportions and natural timber grain suit traditional or country-style interiors.

FAQs

French bedside tables from the 1920s commonly combine classical proportions with functional storage, featuring marble tops, turned support columns, an upper drawer, and a lower enclosed cupboard.

These tables were crafted primarily from solid walnut and walnut veneers, fitted with inset marble tops, wooden turned posts, and dovetailed joinery within the drawers.

Authentic pieces feature original marble surfaces, traditional hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, solid wood back panels showing natural age oxidisation, and turned timber supports.

Position the pair on either side of a bed frame to create visual balance, pairing the warm walnut wood tones with crisp white bedding and contemporary metal lamps.

Apply a natural beeswax polish to the walnut elements using a soft cloth, and clean the marble top with a pH-neutral stone cleaner to prevent surface dulling or etching.
