A German single door table cabinet. The front is inlaid with a Knight on horse back set within an oval and surrounded with a trophy of arms. The fitted interior with drawers and cupboards which are finely inlaid with architectural scenes. Retaining the original steel hinges and lock plate.This design for cabinets was popular in Augsberg in the early 17th century.Our stock includes early oak and walnut furniture from the 18th century, as well as more formal pieces from the Georgian period. Clocks, barometers and globes are complemented by Colonial cabinets, furniture and early arms. Their scientific instruments, which include early microscopes, telescopes and equipment such as sextants, provide a fascinating insight into the evolution of technology, whilst demonstrating fine artistry and craftsmanship.
