Culvertons has dated this piece to the 1890s.
As you can see from the images, the frame of the chair and the stool retain much of their original paintwork and gilding, however, what cannot be gauged from pictures alone is the structural integrity of the frame - but I can assure you, and I am 6'2", I feel very supported and comfortable when I recline on this Louis XVI style Duchesse Brisee. The joints to the framework and castors remain sound and the upholstery is still in a good, very useable, condition. Overall its white fabric covering still retains a fresh and appealing appearance but as you would expect there are minor marks here and there - notably to the right armrest and underside of the cushion on the footstool. Before the armchair and stool are dispatched to their new home both pieces will be cleaned and the section of fabric on the arm replaced within the asking price. However, we cannot guarantee the fabric will be totally mark-free. Alternatively, the existing upholstery could be used for the base of a new top covering. Measurements of the stool - 69 cm wide x 66 cm deep x 50 ccm high. The measurements below are for the armchair.
