This Chippendale Revival display cabinet by Warings dates from 1900 and is constructed in solid mahogany with a warm brown finish. The upper section comprises three glazed doors with astragal glazing bars enclosing shelves lined in beige fabric, topped by a Greek key moulded cornice and blind fretwork carving. Brass drop handles equip the two central drawers in the base section, which also incorporates a pair of flanking cupboard doors and cabriole legs with carved detailing resting on pad feet. An open undertier shelf unites the legs beneath the lower drawers. Measuring 203 cm high, 136 cm wide, and 39 cm deep, the two-part cabinet splits for ease of installation. It suits placement in a dining room or living room to store and display dinnerware, glassware, or decorative objects on its shelves behind the glass doors while providing concealed storage in the lower cupboards and drawers.

Chippendale Revival furniture draws inspiration from 18th-century English designs, featuring mahogany construction, geometric astragal glazing, carved blind fretwork, and slender cabriole legs with carved detail.

High-grade cabinetmakers utilised solid and veneered mahogany for frames, alongside hand-cut glass panes for glazing, cast brass hardware, and secondary woods like pine or oak for interior drawer linings.

Authentic pieces display period construction techniques, including hand-dovetailed drawer joints, original brass locks or handles, authentic patination on timber surfaces, and maker stamps or enamel badges.

Glazed cabinets provide structured contrast when paired with modern minimalist furniture, functioning effectively in dining rooms, living spaces, or hallways to curate ceramic collections and books.

Apply high-grade beeswax polish sparingly along the wood grain, clean glass surfaces with a dry microfibre cloth, and position the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking or fading.
