This Edwardian glass ewer is a clear crystal serving vessel dating from around 1900. It exhibits a bulbous lower body decorated with intricate wheel-cut panel patterns and arched motifs, rising to a narrow neck with a pouring spout. A high looped handle extends from the back of the vessel, while a matching faceted circular stopper sits securely in the opening at the top. The piece measures 33 cm high, 16 cm wide, and 15 cm deep, presenting a substantial presence on display surfaces. In a contemporary home, it is suited for placement upon a dining room sideboard top as a decorative accessory or serving piece for water and wine during formal dinners and gatherings.

Edwardian glass ewers from the early 20th century are characterised by refined, lighter forms compared to heavier Victorian predecessors. They typically feature hand-cut crystal patterns, slender necks, elongated loop handles, and fitted glass stoppers.

Edwardian cut glass was primarily made from high-lead crystal, valued for its clarity and refractive qualities. Glassmakers used rotating stone or iron wheels to cut geometric facets, fans, and starburst designs into the surface before polishing.

Authentic pieces exhibit sharp, crisp cut edges rather than molded seams, along with slight hand-blown irregularities. Lead crystal from this era also produces a clear, resonant chime when gently tapped and displays high brilliance under light.

An antique glass ewer can be styled on a sideboard, drinks trolley, or open shelving, either as a standalone decorative object or integrated into a functional bar set to catch and refract ambient light.

Wash by hand using warm water and a mild detergent with a soft sponge, avoiding dishwashers which can cloud or chip lead crystal. Ensure thoroughly dry storage and avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock.
