This pair of Edwardian cut glass decanters originates from the 1900 period and is rendered in clear lead crystal. Each piece exhibits a rounded bulbous body, a faceted neck, and an original diamond-shaped glass stopper with a pointed finial. The exterior decoration includes thumbprint facets around the body and an intricate starburst cut pattern upon the base. Measuring 33 cm high, 15 cm wide, and 15 cm deep, these items present substantial proportions for practical display. Such vessels suit placement upon a sideboard top within a gentleman's library or a formal dining room setting. The polished transparent surfaces catch ambient light, revealing the precise geometric cutting across the glass. The matching stoppers fit securely into the narrow necks, completing the balanced symmetry of the set. These decorative accessories provide both functional service and traditional ornamental appeal for an interior space.

Edwardian cut glass decanters produced between 1901 and 1910 featured lighter geometric patterns, globular or decagon shapes, and clear lead crystal compared to the heavier, deeply cut designs of the preceding Victorian era.

Traditional cut glass was crafted from mouth-blown lead crystal, which allowed for clarity and resonant sound. Patterns were cut into the glass surface using rotating stone or iron wheels and polished to produce light-refracting facets.

Authentic pieces generally show hand-ground stoppers specifically fitted to the neck, slight natural variations in cut depth, polished pontil marks on the underside, and fine surface wear consistent with age on the base.

Decanters are commonly styled on drinks trays, sideboards, or bar carts, where light can pass through the crystal facets to highlight their geometric cut patterns.

Hand wash antique glassware in lukewarm water with mild liquid soap, avoiding dishwashers which cause clouding and heat stress. Ensure the interior is dried thoroughly before re-inserting stoppers to prevent moisture buildup.
