FAQs

Cabinets from this era often reflect transitional styles, incorporating clean lines inspired by earlier classical periods alongside functional proportions suited for the twentieth-century bedroom.

They are typically constructed using solid timber frameworks with flame or figured mahogany veneers applied to primary surfaces, joined using traditional dovetail and mortise-and-tenon methods.

Authenticity is indicated by timber ageing, hand-cut joinery, original brass or cast-metal hardware, and natural patination rather than artificial distress.

Pairing dark wood period pieces with neutral walls, modern minimalist lighting, and mixed textures creates a balanced scheme that highlights the warmth of the timber.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying occasional natural beeswax, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity to prevent veneer cracking.
