Corner cupboards became prominent in British homes during the 18th and 19th centuries, designed specifically to utilise unused corner spaces in domestic interiors for displaying and storing tableware.

These cabinets were typically constructed from solid oak with secondary woods, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon framing, and hand-blown glass panes set into wooden tracery.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate joinery, hand-planed interior boards, old stock glass with imperfections, traditional brass hardware, and natural timber oxidisation accumulated over decades.

This piece can be integrated into modern spaces to provide vertical display storage, contrasting clean architectural lines with rich, textured timber and traditional craftsmanship.

Preserve the wood by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber surface without using silicone-based polishes.
