We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 20th century Swedish Gustavian style cabinet is fashioned from pine with a painted pale grey finish. The narrow two-tier structure displays a moulded cornice at the top, fluted panel decoration on both doors, and slender tapered feet at the base. Small keyhole escutcheons are set into the doors, while the exterior shows a soft, rubbed-back paint patina. The piece stands 203 cm high, 39 cm wide, and 36 cm deep. In a modern interior, this vertical storage unit provides functional display and organisation space without demanding a large floor footprint. It sits upright against a wall in a hallway, bedroom, or living room, offering an upright storage solution for books, linens, or daily essentials while maintaining a slender profile.

Gustavian style originated in late 18th-century Sweden, inspired by French Neoclassicism under King Gustav III, characterised by restrained lines, pale painted finishes, and simple geometric carving.

These cabinets were constructed primarily from local softwoods such as pine, painted with mineral-based paints in muted shades of grey, soft blue, or white.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut joinery, original iron fittings, natural paint distress exposing underlying wood grain, and classic architectural details like fluting or fielded panelling.

A slim profile allows the cabinet to fit neatly into tight alcoves, hallways, or alcoves, providing vertical storage while preserving floor space in contemporary schemes.

Dust surfaces regularly using a clean, soft microfibre cloth, and avoid commercial polish or excessive moisture which can strip aged painted patinas.
