This Arita porcelain beaker vase originates from Japan during the Edo period around 1700. The trumpet-shaped piece is constructed from white porcelain with hand-painted iron red enamel decoration. The visible design includes a continuous band of flowering plants around the waisted body, positioned beneath a band of lappets containing flower heads just below the flared rim, while the footrim features a painted lappet border. Noticeable signs of age include slight surface chips and glaze fritting along the rim edge. The item measures 17 cm high, 9.3 cm wide, and 9.3 cm deep. In a modern interior, this vessel functions effectively as a decorative display piece on a sideboard top, mantelpiece, or bookshelf within an English Country House setting. The compact scale allows it to sit easily among collections of ceramics or as a standalone display object. The traditional motifs and iron red colourway integrate smoothly into both period and eclectic interior schemes.

Produced in the Saga Prefecture of Japan during the Edo period, Arita porcelain is known for its white kaolin base decorated with underglaze cobalt blue or overglaze enamels such as iron red, green, and yellow.

These vessels were crafted from porcelain clay derived from crushed porcelain stone, finished with a clear glaze, and detailed with hand-painted iron red overglaze enamels.

Authentic pieces typically feature visible hand-drawn linework, minor kiln imperfections, characteristic firing marks on the unglazed base, and period-appropriate pigment tones.

Positioning the vessel on a sideboard top or mantelpiece allows its red ceramic decoration to create visual contrast against neutral backdrop surfaces.

Wipe the surface gently using a dry cotton cloth, avoiding water immersion, detergent solutions, or abrasive materials that could disturb the overglaze surface.
