The Regency period, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1820, drew heavily on classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, characterised by clean architectural lines, symmetry, and the use of fine timbers like mahogany.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames with figured veneer, such as mahogany or rosewood, housing brass mechanical clock movements with white enamel dials and delicate steel hands.

Authentication involves examining the hand-cut screws, the patination of the timber, the quality of the brass movement, and maker signatures often engraved on the backplate or dial.

This type of timepiece adds a focal point of classical refinement when placed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or executive desk, contrasting effectively against contemporary minimalist furniture.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight, sources of heat, and high humidity to protect the wood and veneer, and have the mechanical movement serviced periodically by a professional horologist.
