Georgian Elm & Mahogany Wing Back Armchair C18th (George Iii)

18th century
Description

This Georgian period, wing-back armchair, dates from the second half of the C18th. The tall high back armchair, with deep side wings, rolled arms, all upholstered in patterned fabric. Raised on square mahogany front legs, swept elm square rear legs, all supported by mahogany stretchers. Hardwood frame.

Usually as it is but this charming chair would benefit some re-upholstering and a little TLC.

On centre stretcher in the middle of the side stretchers, could be replaced but not essential. The joints in the wings are little loose. The upholstery is structurally reasonable and could be used as is. The fabric covers are worn and scratched. Overall usable, but would benefit from reupholstering and some TLC. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
