19th Century Regency Convex Mirror

The mirror of typical convex form with cannon ball decoration and cross shaped carving at the four compass points mimicking the fasces or tied bunches of rods used in ancient Rome to denote the power and authority of magistrates. This form of decoration was very popular during this period. Another moulding with leaf carved detail is also employed around the mirror plate itself.
