A fine and rare George II Mahogany Armchair of large proportions, having good colour and patina. This chair has a few small patches but no replacement parts, it''s in very solid useable condition. The shaped top rail with nicely carved scrolls to the ends, the fretted splat with three delicately carved flowers to the centre, and the well shaped arms that flow perfectly. The Chair having lost no hight over the years is standing tall on cabriole legs. Circa 1740
Chairs of very similar design bearing the label of Giles Grendey can be seen in the book, Dictionary Of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, Leeds 1996, p.242, fig.435.
