The shape of the back and top rail recalls chairs produced by firm of James Peddle, London and High Wycombe who commissioned chair designs from E.W Godwin in the 1880s.
Typical surface minor scuffs and dents commensurate with age and use
Smithfield in the City of London, is the oldest meat market in Britain with a history dating back to the 10th century.
It was also a place of public execution with both Watt Tyler (leader of the Peasant Revolt) and Sir William Wallace meeting their end at Smithfield.
