C19th Macclesfield Elm & Ash Country Ladderback Rush Seat Carver Armchair

A C19th, Macclesfield Ladderback elm and ash framed and rush seated, carver armchair. A traditional Macclesfield ladderback carver featuring a bent bar top rail with knob ends over four ladder splat back with turned, flanking the turned and bent stiles, with shaped open arms with turned arm supports. Over rush woven seat, raised on turned front legs on off-set bun feet, and square chamfered rear legs, all supported by stretchers.

A handsome, very well made and rare country armchair, in good original condition and ready for use.

Dimensions:

This armchair measures approximately 104.5 cm (41") tall, 61 cm (24") wide, and 57 cm (22") deep. The seat height is approximately 41 cm (16").

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This armchair is in a good original condition commensurate with its age. Good colour, polish and patina. There is a little play in some of the joints, but it sits sturdy enough when seated. A few odd marks and blemishes on the frame. A notch on the top rail which appears natural. The seat has a little light wear but is more than good enough for use. Little wear to the feet. Some slight natural aged warping of the frame, which adds character to the chair. Very serviceable and ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.

Returns

A 30-day return period is offered for peace of mind. Items must be returned in the same condition as supplied. Return transport costs are the responsibility of the buyer, and original delivery charges are non-refundable. Responsibility for the item remains with the buyer until it has been safely received back.
