Large 19th Century French Gilt Mirror - Mercury Glass

Dimensions:W: 82cm (32.3")H: 169cm (66.5")

Incredible 19th century French gilt mirror in superb condition.

It dates from around 1850.

It has its absolutely stunning original real gilt (gold leaf) on gesso frame with gorgeous ornate floral detail to the corners. It has a huge, unusual and ornate shell crest. All in perfect condition.

It has its original heavy mercury glass with lots of lovely foxing. Mercury glass is increasingly hard to find and gives a sparkle and reflection like no other!

It has all its original backboards.

It would make a stunning overmantel or hall mirror above a console perhaps.
