Hepplewhite Style C19th Horsehair Upholstered Set of 4 Mahogany Dining Chairs

A C19th, set of four, mahogany, dining chairs, dating from the 2nd half of the C19th. These chairs featuring a pierced and splat within a shield shaped back in typical Hepplewhite style. Overstuffed seats covered in red stripe horsehair fabric, upholstered in traditional manner. Square tapered front legs with spade feet, with splayed rear legs, supported by Chippendale style chamfered curved H-stretchers.

Good quality period chairs, in good condition and ready to use.

There is a note attached to inside of one seat rail of one of the chairs. It suggest the chairs may date to 1899(?).

Dimensions:

These chairs measure approximately 94.5 cm (37.25") tall, 53 cm (21") wide, and 50.5 cm (20") deep. The seat height is approximately 46.5 cm (18.25").

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - These chairs are in a good condition commensurate with their age, and are structurally sound and sturdy. There are some minor age related marks and blemishes on the frames. No loose joints. There are a few small high quality repairs. The fabric covers are possibly original, and may have been reused when the chairs were restored, as horse hair is a very high quality and expensive fabric. As such 3 of the chairs have wear to the covers. The upholstery foundations are traditional, and structurally quite reasonable. Ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.

Returns

A 30-day return period is offered for peace of mind. Items must be returned in the same condition as supplied. Return transport costs are the responsibility of the buyer, and original delivery charges are non-refundable. Responsibility for the item remains with the buyer until it has been safely received back.
