Great size and very decorative late 19th century French oval gilt mirror with its original mercury bevelled mirror plate, circa 1880.
Very well detailed to the moulded frame and also retains much of the original gold leaf, so this mirror has a wonderful mellow glow to the gilding, which is complimented by the mercury mirror glass too.
This French oval gilt mirror is well proportioned so it can hang alone as a centre piece to your hall or as an overmantle, but also as a console mirror or above a sideboard for example.
Good condition and with its original back boards which have kept the mirror glass in good condition too.
(Please ignore the two metal brackets as these are just for my hanging the mirror on a picture rail in the studio…not a heavy mirror, so it’s easy to hang!)
Measuring:
46 1/2 inches or 118 cm high
28 inches or 71 cm wide
27 3/4 inches or 70.5 cm glass aperture height
20 1/2 inches of 52 cm glass aperture width
