A George III Laburnum 'brander Back' Side Chair, Scottish Highlands, C.1800

Classic Scottish design, nicely figured timber, structurally sound.
 
The maker has used the natural shape of the branches to give a pleasing flare to the top of the chair. Elsewhere the back is delineated with simple scratch-beading.
 
Condition: Original and solid. A few very isolated spots of historic worm. Small wedge-shaped replacement at the bottom of the back left leg (see image), some more concentrated wear to the inner right side stretcher.
 
Height to the seat-42cm
