The seat frame is finished with brass-stud work. The seat is firm but extremely comfortable to sit on. The Georgian desk chair stands on chamfered block legs at the front and sabre legs to the rear – the legs are decorated with finely carved scroll detail at the knees.

Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique English Georgian mahogany armchair, with a pretty needle-point upholstered seat, and stunning original colour, circa 1780, in good condition. Old period repairs to the top rail and right-hand arm – the chair frame is completely solid in joint. The needle point stuff-over seat is in good clean condition. The Georgian mahogany armchair boasts a stuff over seat, upholstered in a pretty quality needle point, depicting a bird perched in a rose tree, flanked by foliate detail. The seat is firm, but comfortable. The seat structure is in excellent clean condition. The chair frame has been traditionally French polished and boasts a lovely colour and patination. The Georgian armchair sits firm on the ground and does not wobble. It is well built and heavy; a sign of its quality. This chair is solid in joint and ready to use.
