Description

This is a fine quality antique English Georgian mahogany armchair, with a pretty needle-point upholstered seat, and stunning original colour, circa 1780, in good condition. The chair is solid mahogany and is designed with a shaped top rail, a pierced fan back. Elegant splayed arms unite the back and seat frame, which is raised on shaped supports. The Georgian mahogany armchair boasts a stuff over seat, upholstered in a pretty quality needle point upholstery, depicting a bird perched in a rose tree, flanked by foliate detail. The seat frame is finished with brass-stud work. The seat is firm but extremely comfortable to sit on. The Georgian desk chair stands on chamfered block legs at the front and sabre legs to the rear – the legs are decorated with finely carved scroll detail at the knees.
