Carolean C17th Pair of Carved High Back Oak Side Chairs (Country Jacobean)

A closely matched pair of C17th and later, carved oak high back side chairs. These solid oak country chairs features an elaborated carved top crested rail, deep channelled spindle back. Solid plank seat with raised moulded edge. Raised on turned and block legs all supported by similar stretchers.

All the timbers appear to have been reused and from the C17th and earlier. The carved top rail crest appears to be from an earlier piece of furniture, possibly late C16th to early C17th. One chair appears to have been constructed then the second copied, using all the same timbers. As one chair is not an exact copy of the first. I estimate the construction to have been mid C19th (Victorian period).

A quality pair of chairs, in very good condition with good colour, polish and patina. Ready for use.

Dimensions:

These chairs measures approximately 109.5 cm (43") tall, 47.5 cm (19") wide, and 46 cm (18") deep. The seat height measures approximately 47.5 cm (19").

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - These chairs are in a good condition, commensurate with their age, and are structurally sound. There are some minor odd marks and blemishes. Good colour, polish and patina. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.

A 30-day return period is offered for peace of mind. Items must be returned in the same condition as supplied.
