A show stopping pair of ''Best Low'' Windsor armchairs, attributed to the Allsop family, Worksop, Nottinghamshire. C.1841. The Allsop family, Worksop were amongst the most productive and skilled Windsor chair makers in the North East Midlands, enjoying 68 years of business in Nottinghamshire. (1819-1887).
 
This wonderful pair of Yew wood chairs are raised upon elaborately turned legs with ball feet, connected by crinoline stretcher. Three long tapered back spindles either side of decorative central back splats, three tapered underarm spindles below the arm bow terminating in notches on under surface, with elm seats.
 
The chairs have acquired a very charming glow through the years of use and love, in very nice original condition.
