French Gilt Mirror with Foliate Decoration

Description

A great quality large scale French mirror, this late 19th century piece has an ornate foliate gilt frame with leaves and flowers, and an attractive wide bevelled edge to the glass, which is surrounded by a beaded decoration. The frame has a wooden back. An elaborate Rococo or Baroque style piece, this will lift any room setting, whether you hang it as an overmantle, console mirror or as a pier mirror. It is a great size for the hall and will reflect head to waist.

Dating to circa 1880, this is made from mirror glass and wood and originates from France.

It is in good age-related condition, with some minor chips from the frame, but these are minimal. The largest frame damage is a small breakage to a leaf on the right side, which has been smoothed over and is not obtrusive. The mirror is not oxidized and reflects well.
