From the George the 3rd period and mostly early 19th century this is a harlequin set (close matching) put together approximately 30 years ago. Made mainly from ash and fruitwood. The rush seats are in overall very good condition and there is a small amount of old restorations mainly one or two replaced spindles. The design of chair is recognised as a Lancashire spindleback and always considered as one of the most attractive of country chairs. With six stretchers always very solid and sturdy, ready to use.
