Here we have a rather grand and outstanding George II Oak lambing chair c1760. As you can see the chair has incredible colour and patina. This very fine chair is of larger proportions than most and the seat height is good. There are deep beautifully shaped wings to the top with a wonderful panel between. The panel has a stunning moulding to the edge and leads down to a traditional rope seat. We have had a delicious Morrocan red leather squab cushion made for the seat from the best of Italian leather hides. The arms are beautifully shaped with decorative winged supports and the sides are also finely panelled. The whole is of pegged mortice and tenon construction with through joints to the rear photographed. You may be thinking that the front feet look unusual but this is exactly how it was made as the feet are not added but are turned from the same squared supports.
