Fine Oval Carved Giltwood Mirror

A fine quality oval giltwood mirror. The mirror is typically late eighteenth century in style but most likely dates to the Victorian period. The frame is carved with a scalloped edge and inner running ball motif. The oval is applied to the bottom with carved laurel branches and to the top with harebells draped from a central urn containing flowers. The whole is in very good condition with the odd old repair. The gilding looks to be the original and is bright and crisp with just the right amount of wear. The mirror plate also looks to be the original and has some slight foxing appropriate to the age. In all a fine English country house looking mirror that is ready to hang. C.1870.
