A Late Victorian Leather Wing Armchair

19th century
Description

A fine late Victorian gentleman’s leather wing armchair in the George II style and with its original leather, the generous back with serpentine top with deep wings on each side, over wide scrolling arms and a good sized seat on mahogany cabriole supports with ball and claw feet, English circa 1880.

Condition: Overall very good, the chair is solid and robust, and the structure is sound. The leather, which is the original, has a number of minor scuffs, some stains and an all over craquelure, especially on the seat, however it is essentially in good condition and has been carefully wax polished by our restorers. Overall the chair has a wonderful colour and appearance, and because of its scale it is blissfully comfortable.
