Description

This is a delightful early 18th century antique Italian gilt wood pier mirror in remarkable original condition dating from around 1740. The mirror has its original gilding in excellent order throughout with a beautiful antique colour and patina. The compartmentalised frame houses the 12 original separate thick mercury plates that are all very attractively aged with nice sugaring to the glass. The ornate crest has a wonderful vase of flowers design with an entwined leaf detail to the frame, all hand carved and gilded.

The back of the mirror really shows the authenticity of this piece with lovely original antique timber panelling.

A very nice, early example in super original condition.

The mirror measures 107 cms high 57 cms wide by 4 cms deep.
