Description

What's particularly engaging about this Irish wall mirror is the condition of its frame. It still retains an appealing and untouched surface. It has both depth and character which draws the eye, qualities often lost through insensitive restoration. Even its original decorative hobnail cut glass studs have just the right amount of ageing and discolouration. Its plate has a few minor imperfections and our feeling is that it is an old replacement. However, if that is the case it has been undertaken with care, as beneath a layer of old sugar paper its original backboards and fixing brads can still be seen. A good example of a mirror that's becoming more difficult to find.
