Pair of Swiss Stabelle Chairs C.1860

Description

Lovely little rustic pair of mid 19th.c. pine and fruitwood 'stabelle' chairs, of Swiss or Alpine origin c.1860. Backrests with curving top rails and shaped sides in pine and fruitwood slats at the centre. Over the board seats (seat height 16") and splayed and tapering legs, also in fruitwood, typical of the form. Nice tusk and tenon joints where the back meets the seat. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
