Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This matched pair of 1880 Renaissance Revival side pier cabinets comes in a dark brown rosewood with bronze fittings and glass doors. Each tall piece stands on small round feet below a lower cupboard section with carved central relief panels showing masks, flanked by fluted pilasters and drawers with metal drop handles. The upper section contains glazed side cabinets and an open arcaded middle shelf beneath a mirrored barrel top with architectural cresting, finished with carved figures at the top apex. Every lock is stamped Sigmund Jaray Wien. The cabinets measure 203 cm high by 102 cm wide and 46 cm deep. They function well as substantial display and storage units in a formal dining room, drawing room or large hallway to showcase decorative objects and tableware.

FAQs

Renaissance Revival furniture is a nineteenth-century European movement inspired by Renaissance architecture, incorporating carved relief work, arched sections, pilasters, and symmetrical structural balance.

Craftsmen in late nineteenth-century Vienna utilised rich hardwoods such as rosewood and walnut, combined with precision glass panels, hand-carved accents, and cast brass fitments.

Authentic pieces often display stamped workshop signatures, precise mortise and tenon joinery, multi-tiered architectural layouts, and fine detail in the carved masks and columns.

Positioning a pair of cabinets symmetrically in a grand hallway or flanking a dining room wall creates architectural focal points when paired with muted wall paint and simple floor coverings.

Rosewood surfaces should be dusted with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, kept away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid moisture loss, and occasionally polished with clear beeswax.
