A Monumental Victorian Gilded Carved Wood & Gesso Mirror

Description

Circa 1860. An amazing Victorian carved gilded wood and gesso mirror, surmounted with an elaborate pediment, including musical instruments, acanthus leaves, swags and tails. With a large oval mirror contained in a finely carved frame with further shaped mirrors to the outside. The frame has foliate carving to the tops and bottom, with carved cartouche sections in the center finishing with an open section with a scalloped shell and further decorations beneath. The mirror retains its original gilding and mirror plates and has great style and elegance and is in excellent condition.
