Description

The carved cresting rail incised with the initials W.H. Structurally sound and in lovely original condition throughout. The top rail could to be a country-made interpretation of the fine caqueteuse 'Master of the Guild' chairs held at Trinity Hall, Aberdeen. The pierced splat is a rare variation of type. Stylistically this chair looks late 17th century, but as a country made chair in the highlands of Scotland, chairs were at times some decades behind fashionable London furniture. The seat is ash and 42cm high. General minor wear and tear commensurate with age.
