The frame retains the original good quality mirror, which shows some minor signs of foxing (see photos). The frame rests on two small bun feet, allowing the mirror frame to stand clear of the fire place lintel. Fixing brackets are present on the original backboards of the mirror, to securely fix it to the wall. The Victorian overmantle mirror measures 2ft 5?” high by 5ft 8” wide.

This is a fine quality large 5ft 8” wide English antique Victorian overmantle mirror, that can be wall hung, ideal for use above a fireplace, circa 1860, in excellent condition. The frame, the carvings are all original and in excellent condition too. Nominal old use marks, to the leading edges of the frame. Importantly, there is no damage or missing pieces to the carvings. The Victorian overmantle mirror has been adapted from a very good quality Victorian mahogany mirror backed sideboard at some point in the past. The glass is original and shows signs of foxing (please see photos). The carved frame is of excellent quality, with no missing sections and in excellent condition too. The backboards are original. This Victorian overmantle mirror is ready to be used.
