A George III Carved Mahogany Chair By Gillows, C.1785

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Jeckyll & Co

Highly refined and constructed with typical Gillows finese, including rounded joins between the uprights and cresting rail.

Condition: Historic repair to the cresting rail above the third banister. The ''waist'' of the banister sits slightly higher than its companions as a result of this. Chip around the rounded join on the other side of the chair. Historic repair to the top of the left leg and general wear and tear commensurate with age.

A closely related set, supplied to John Curwen for Ewanriggs Hall in Cumbria, was sold by Sotheby''s Furniture, Clocks and Works of Art sale on 9th November 2021, lot 71.
