Description

A good set of EIGHT Chippendale style late 19th century solid mahogany DINING CHAIRS in excellent original condition. Comprising six open dining chairs and two carvers (with arms).

Each chair features a well carved and pierced back, with 'drop-in' seats supported on carved cabriole front legs which terminate in ball-and-bird claw feet, whilst the carver chairs have shaped and carved solid mahogany arms. The back of each chair is ornately decorated with carved flowers and leaves, with delicate and stylish piercing. The shoulders are rounded with reeded decoration. The legs are of a solid mahogany cabriole style with acanthus leaves to the top and terminating in heavy ball-and-bird claw feet.

Each of the drop in seats is covered in an attractive 'gross point' and 'petit point' tapestry, all in very good condition indeed. Beautifully individually hand-woven and depicting bunches of flowers.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
