Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Developed in France during the early 19th century, carriage clocks were engineered as durable, portable timepieces designed for travel. They were widely used by wealthy travellers and officers, often featuring sturdy balance wheels instead of pendulums to maintain accuracy on journeys.

Traditional carriage clocks are constructed from solid cast brass frames, fine bevelled glass panels, white enamel dials, and hand-cut steel hands. High-grade models frequently feature gilt brass finishes and complex spring-driven mechanical movements.

Authentic period pieces feature heavy brass construction, thick bevelled glass panes without plastic components, hand-enamelled dials with fine Roman numerals, and manufacturer serial numbers or trademarks stamped directly onto the rear brass movement plate.

A classic brass carriage clock functions well as a focal point on a fireplace mantelpiece, an office desk, or a bookshelf. Combining its warm metallic tone with contemporary artwork or minimalist ceramics creates an engaging visual contrast.

Keep the clock in a dry, stable environment away from direct heat and moisture. Use the original winding key size carefully without overwinding, and wipe the external brass gently with a soft dry cloth rather than aggressive liquid cleaners.
