Yolanda Gray Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The desk chair is designed with a comfortable curved bar beech back, connected to wrap around arms, supported by an elegant vertical splat back. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain green leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter and traditional hessian webbing to the underside. The chair frame has been cleaned and French polished, by hand, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The office chair incorporates a Hillcrest revolving mechanism and it rotates 360 degrees; the seat height can be adjusted by turning a ribbed metal screw on the underside of the chair. The mechanism also features a reclining action, the tension of which can be adjusted by turning a small wheel at the front of the mechanism. The chair mechanism is in good working order. The chair sits on four splayed solid beech legs that terminate on the original brass & porcelain castors, which are in excellent condition. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat.
