Havard and Havard has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The central “capping” of the arm bow, at the base of the comb, along with the attractively dished, 3 inch thick seat, are of sycamore. One rear leg is pine but original.
What presumably would have been a painted finish has at some point been removed although, apparently, not within living memory. It now has a very appealing, pale colour which emphasises the almost skeletal form of the chair.
Most unusually, the front of the seat is stamped at each end “D Williams”, a detail I don`t ever recall seeing on a Welsh stick back chair.
