Sold by: Holmes Antiques

An extraordinary 19th Century Irish Mahogany Armchair of generous proportions and fine quality. The Superbly carved lion masks to the knee with flower above and wave patten to the front rail are a faithful copy of that seen on fine 18th Century Irish Furniture. This design has been documented in various books and collections. The top rail, splat, arms and supports are carved with fine scrolling foliage and ribbon patten.

A remarkable example made from fine quality Mahogany.

The Chair was probably made by an eminent Dublin furniture maker of the period.
