Fine Pair of Welsh Oak Chairs, Circa 1730

Description

A fine and unusual pair of Welsh chairs in native oak, each having an elaborately shaped crest rail with fretted heart and half-moon motifs, above a shaped central back splat flanked by moulded uprights, over a solid seat with a shaped apron and central turned finial, and raised on turned front and square rear legs joined by turned and square stretchers, and raised on moulded "Spanish" feet.

Good medium colour and surface patination

(narrow replaced strip to the rear of the seat of one, replaced rear stretcher to the other. Possibly one replaced crest rail)
