Description

A charming set of eight early 19th century (circa 1830) elm country chairs of good patina, probably from the East Anglian region.

This set of chairs consist of two armchairs and six singles, all with shaped top rail and ebony stringing, shaped uprights with carved and shaped back splat of unusual design with central ebonised paterae.

The armchairs having scrolling arms with turned inverted paterae supported on turned arm supports.

The chairs all having drop in rush seats in good condition leading down to tapered legs to the front with outswept legs to the rear, all joined with an H stretcher.

This set of chairs are in good condition for age, with evidence of some old repairs, are of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
