Rare Antique Teak Armchair by Hughes Bolckow

This is a wonderful, oversized Edwardian English antique armchair, a rare model made by Hughes Bolckow of Battleship Wharf in Northumberland, made form teak wood taken from the H.M.S. Britannia in service 1869-1905. Very well made and in such fabulous condition, all pegged construction nada featuring a slatted back rest and seat, shaped open arms and decorative finials to the uprights. Large scale, all very solid and the teak is a lovely colour. There are two original labels attached to the chair, one regarding the makers and the other about the timber th chair is made from. English and dating from around 1910. A lot of the Hughes Bolckow furniture was then retailed via Heals of London and Liberty London in the Edwardian period.
