Fine Pair Empire Style Mahogany Armchairs with Carved Swan Arms

1900 - 1920
Description

This is very handsome pair of early 20th century mahogany library chairs dating from around 1910. The exceptional quality mahogany is superbly carved in the form of beautiful swans to the swept arms, with elegant sabre legs and carved floret detail to the curved tub shape frames. The upper rails are deeply reeded around the curved backs terminating in beautiful acanthus scrolls above the superb swans wings. The pair are attractively upholstered in a lovely soft rust red damask fabric with separate feather filled squab cushions. The chairs measure 85 cms high by 65 cms wide and 65 cms deep. The seat height is 48 cms
