Description:
Here is a fine quality antique set of six English Georgian style solid mahogany dining chairs, constructed in the Victorian period, circa 1880, with newly upholstered seats, in excellent condition. The chairs have been traditionally French polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore, the finish, colour and patination is excellent. The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a shaped top rail, above a central shaped back splat, flanked by vertical rails. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded with finely carved detail around the seat frame and front legs. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality hardwearing Beige, cream & grey chenille upholstery, with traditional hessian material to the underside. The seats are in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. The seats are firm but comfortable; you do not sink into the seat. The chairs rest on straight, moulded legs to the front, with sabre legs to the rear, connected by stretchers for additional strength. Please note, this is a true set of chairs; they have not been matched together from smaller sets of similar chairs.
Condition Report:
These mahogany dining chairs are in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, frames and legs, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The chairs have been traditionally French polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore, the finish, colour and patination is excellent. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality hardwearing Beige, cream & grey chenille upholstery, with traditional hessian material to the underside. Therefore, the upholstery is in excellent and clean condition, with no marks. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seats in a fabric of your choice. If you would like the seats re-covered, please contact us for a quote. This is a true set from the day of their construction (they have not been matched together from smaller sets of similar chairs). The chairs are solid in joint; they do not wobble and they are ready to use.
