The chair sits on four splayed solid birch legs that terminate on replacement top-quality English made solid brass & porcelain replacement castors. The chair incorporates a revolving cast iron mechanism and it rotates 360 degrees. The seat does not recline and it is not height adjustable – many Victorian and early Edwardian office chairs were constructed this way. The chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely shaped seat.

Condition Report:
Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian solid birch revolving office armchair, with a newly upholstered green leather removable cushion, circa 1880, in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame and joints have bene glued to ensure it is solid in joint. The chair boasts a lovely mellow beech, birch wood colour, having been cleaned and professionally French polished, by hand, in our workshop. The cane seat is in good condition, with no holes. The original cast iron revolving mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned, restored and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair incorporates top quality English-made solid brass & porcelain replacement castors, which are in excellent condition. This desk chair is solid in joint and ready to use.
