Description:
Here is a fine quality antique set of six English Georgian mahogany dining chairs, circa 1790, with tapestry seats, in excellent condition. The set consists of six side chairs. The chair frames have been glued and the traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the patination and colour of an excellent standard. The chairs are constructed of solid mahogany and feature a serpentine top rail, above a finely executed pierced fretwork central splat, flanked by vertical rails. Incorporating a drop-in seat design, the seat frames are finely moulded. The seats are upholstered in top quality tapestry wool and cotton, with traditional hessian material to the underside. Interestingly, each seat depicts a different tapestry design. The seats are in good clean condition. They are firm, but comfortable; you do not sink into the seat. The chairs rest on moulded block legs to the front, with sabre legs to the rear, united by a strong “H” stretcher design.

Here is a fine quality antique set of six English Georgian mahogany dining chairs, circa 1790, with tapestry seats, in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, frames and legs, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The chair frames have been glued and the traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the patination and colour of an excellent standard. The seats are in good overall condition and are upholstered with tapestry material. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seats in a fabric of your choice. If you would like the seats re-covered, please contact us for a quote. This is a true set from the day of their construction (they have not been matched together from smaller sets of similar chairs). The chairs are solid in joint; they do not wobble and they are ready to use.
