Description:
Here is a fine quality set of four English antique Victorian solid mahogany shell carved dining chairs, circa 1880, with burgundy leather stuff-over seats, in excellent condition. These strong chairs are designed with an attractive shell carved central motif to the shaped top rail, flanked by decorative carved etching to the backs, with matching detail to the central splat. Secured by sturdy vertical supports, the chairs benefit from comfortable stuff-over seats, upholstered in full grain burgundy leather, finished with brass studwork to the perimeter. The seat frame is raised on a moulded serpentine seat frame, decorated with further etched detail, standing on ring turned reeded legs to the front and sabre legs to the rear. This set of chairs boasts the original polish; therefore, they have a fantastic depth of colour and patination, displaying a lovely rich red and brown colour. Here is a fine quality set of four English antique Victorian solid mahogany shell carved dining chairs, circa 1880, with burgundy leather stuff-over seats, in excellent condition. This is a true set of four dining chairs (i.e., not matched together from other sets of similar chairs). Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chairs but nothing significant considering their age. The chairs have been French polished in our workshop by hand, to a professional standard, therefore, they have a fantastic colour and patination. The stuff-over leather seats are in good clean condition and extremely comfortable to sit on. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can recover the seats in a fabric of your choice. If you would like the seats recovered, please contact us for a quote. The chair frames are solid in joint.
