Waterfall Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
It has an outer square-section moulding with a generous flat bevel, within which is a sight edge having its original water-gilded finish. It retains a genuine mercury-glass plate of superb quality and originality having a couple of marks, a small amount of foxing, and a beautiful glistening sparkling reflection - an everyday-usable plate that is perfect for a period piece such as this. The superbly well-figured maple retains its original finish with a good rich colour and a warm glowing patination. It is English, c.1850 - c.1875.
